Wherever we can, we re-unite children on their own with their families. When that is not possible, or not in a child’s best interest, we help them get into alternative family-based care.
Angeles, now 15, spent three years living in an institution in Moldova which has now been successfully re-organised. Her mother is unable to work as she has multiple sclerosis and her father died when she was very young. Angeles was sent to live in the institution as her mother thought it was the best place for her
to receive an education. EveryChild social workers organised for her to return home and offer support to the family so that they can stay together. They have also enrolled Angeles in a local school so that she can receive the childhood and education she deserves.
'Life was Okay in the institution, but my mother was not there and I missed her.’ Angeles
