Walk to work

The great and the good from London’s Futures and Options and Foreign Exchange came together on 18th May to turn their commute into cash in aid of EveryChild and other children’s charities Demelza, Hope HIV and Variety.

Participants put their best feet forward to tackle 35, 20 and 10 mile routes from starting points in Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey. Our brave walkers set off for the City of London at 6am. As fabulous for fundraising the Walk to Work may have been, it certainly won’t become commute of choice for our participants. The final walkers arrived at Paternoster Square, in the shadows of St Pauls Cathedral, just after 9pm!

On arrival in the City, our walkers received a very special thank you from Mengiste Ayele, Executive Chairman of EveryChild’s partner in Ethiopia, Forum for Sustainable Child Empowerment (FSCE). Mengiste was in London to receive an EveryChild award on behalf of FSCE.

To date the 96 wonderful walkers have raised just over £68,000.00 and are well within sight of reaching their £100,000.00 target. The money EveryChild receives will support children living on the street and vulnerable families in Ethiopia.

The Walk to Work was organised and run by Futures for Kids who EveryChild would like to thank for their wholehearted support of our work.
