EveryChild’s Fundraising Director takes to the streets
When EveryChild’s in-house street fundraisers stepped out in Tunbridge Wells last week, they counted in their number our Director of Fundraising and Marketing, John Bines. John spoke to shoppers, the local press and, more importantly, signed up a new EveryChild supporter!
John says, “I decided to go to Tunbridge Wells to stress the importance of this form of fundraising at a time when some councils are talking about wanting to ban it. This is one of our most effective forms of fundraising, and we could not survive without it.”
Last year, EveryChild secured 10,000 new donors through street face-to-face fundraising.
John adds, “While I was fundraising. I also asked shoppers and locals how they felt about face-to-face fundraisers. The response overall was positive. I even managed to sign up my first supporter – so I must have been doing something right. But this stint on the street reminded me just how hard this job is and how good our fundraisers are to regularly enthuse so many people to join our cause. They are fully deserving of our respect and gratitude.”
