Staff from leading professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers will travel to EveryChild projects in Cambodia, Romania and Russia over the next few months to give expert advice on financial management systems. And all for free.
The thirteen secondees, who are all members of PricewaterhouseCoopers Emerging Leaders Programme, will gain a valuable insight into international development and will get to visit projects in the field. EveryChild is collaborating on this unique project with another UK development charity, ChildHope who is also to benefit from PwC's pro-bono services.
EveryChild Chief Executive Anna Feuchtwang said:
"This is a groundbreaking example of charities working in similar areas collaborating to engage with a large company. We hope that with PricewaterhouseCoopers' generously given expertise we will be able to further improve financial transparency and accountability in overseas offices whilst encouraging a better understanding of international development amongst some of the business sector's future leaders. This scheme will bring new perspectives to all the participants, right down to the local NGOs operating on the ground."
Under the direction of the two charities, the PricewaterhouseCoopers staff will travel to six countries over a three month period to review how financial and operational systems are managed. The week-long visits will be to ChildHope's local partner organisations in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Brazil and EveryChild's branches in Cambodia, Romania and Russia. PricewaterhouseCoopers will feed back its observations and recommendations to the two charities in the Autumn.
