Louise Jeffery

Ladybird Louise

This was Louise's third Flora London Marathon for EveryChild and this year Louise decided to take part in fancy dress. Louise The Ladybird ran the 26.2 mile course in 5 hours and 54 minutes.

"It was a really tough run - far too hot. Thanks as ever to the team for their support along the route - it was good to see some cheery happy faces!"

Matt Colverson

Matt C

This was Matt's first marathon and he crossed the finish line in 5 hours and 4 minutes - just half an hour behind his friend, Matt Spashett.

"I decided to run in the London marathon as it has always been a dream of mine to complete the best marathon in the world. To be able to do this and run for a fantastic charity was more than a dream come true. The feeling you get when you cross the line is hard to describe but it is something that I will never forget. It is a very hard physical and mental challenge to run and finish the London marathon but this only helps towards the brilliant emotions you feel when you cross the finish line.

To add to this, Matt and I have managed to raise money for a wonderful cause which we hope goes some way to help vulnerable children and families around the world. Thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported me and Matt during this brilliant experience!"

Matt Spashett

The Flora London Marathon 2007 was Matt's first marathon and he crossed the finish line in a brilliant 4 hours and 32 minutes.

Luke at mile 13

Two years ago, Luke took part in 12 marathons in 12 months for EveryChild and raised several thousand pounds for our work.

This year, Luke was back with four friends in tow. Luke crossed the line in 4 hours 14 minutes and his friends quickly followed.

  • Steve Bayliss finished in 4 hours 14 minutes
  • Andrew Norman finished in 4 hours 29 minutes
  • Stephen Battershill finished in 5 hours 24 minutes
  • Antonio Bravo made it in 6 hours 31 minutes

    Rebecca Mulraine-Simkin

The 2007 Flora London Marathon was Rebecca's second marathon and she completed the 26.2 miles in 4 hours and 48 minutes.

"I absolutely loved the day. It was desert conditions but a really worthwhile challenge.

Marathon running is a bit like having a baby " you swear you'll never do it again, and then...!"

    Jess Tucker

    Jess and her medal

Jess ran her first Marathon in 4 hours and 8 minutes - making her the first girl in the EveryChild Team over the finish line!

"Thank you so much for giving me the chance to run the London Marathon for EveryChild! This was my first marathon and although I had trained hard, I was so nervous.

Race day began chaotically with the train to the start line breaking down, with no replacement service, requiring a one and a half mile run to the start line! Thankfully I made it just on time!

Although extremely hot, painful and exhausting, I really enjoyed running the London Marathon. The atmosphere was amazing and the support from the crowds, especially the EveryChild team and my boyfriend was incredible! Despite overwhelming urges to stop at times, I managed to keep running and am now so incredibly proud of completing the London Marathon and raising so much money for EveryChild!

All the blisters and sore muscles are definitely worth it! I already can't wait for next year!!"

    Neil Ingledew

    Neil

Neil was the first member of the EveryChild Marathon Team to cross the finish line - in an amazing 3 hours 31 minutes. Given the exhausting heat, this was a fantastic time - well done Neil!

"I have raised over £ 1200 pounds for EveryChild and as usual, I'm humbled by everyone's generosity and faith in my ability to complete the Marathon...What a great race, the chance to run on some of the most famous streets in the world and pass some of the most iconic buildings. Only in London.

My time: 3:31:06. The PB is safe for another year. It will fall next year though!

Thanks to everybody who has supported me, I can't really express in words how much it means!"

    Louise Edwards

    Louise and her medal

Louise completed her the 2007 Flora London marathon in 4 hours and 31 minutes - well done Louise!

    Sally Mallett

    Flora London Marathon 07

Sally completed the event in 6 hours 31 minutes and had this to say about her Flora London Marathon experience:

"This is the second time I have run the London Marathon and, although it was a very hot day, it was a great experience. I did not do as much training as I had hoped - I just took it steady and enjoyed the scenery.

The supporters were great and really help you when you go through a tough patch! I saw my daughter and partner twice on the way round which was a real confidence booster.

EveryChild have been great throughout the whole build up to race day and if I was to run the marathon again, I would definitely run for them."

    Carly Stevenson

    Flora London Marathon 2007

Carly completed her marathon race in 6 hours and 48 minutes - well done Carly!

"I enjoyed the race thoroughly thanks to all the brilliant supporters who cheered us on.

The heat made it very difficult and my time was over an hour slower than last time - but I made it over the finish line which I am very happy about!

Well done to everybody that took part and to everybody who finished - you can tell everyone you know that you raced against one of the greatest long distance runners of our generation...and beat him!

    Looking forward to next time!"

    Danielle & Olivia

    Olivia

Unfortunately we did not get to see Danielle but she finished the Flora London Marathon in 4 hours and 15 minutes and we are very grateful for her participation.

Olivia got off to a great start but sadly, tripped on a water bottle along the route and had to be taken to hospital.

We are very disappointed for Olivia but wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her next year. Thank you for all the training you put in prior to the race.
