Safeguarding children through Child Protection Units
and other networks
Malawi – In three regions child protection units established by EveryChild in police stations have prosecuted more than 20 child
abuse and exploitation cases and secured 11 convictions
Peru – Our trained volunteer community defenders detected
and reported 91 cases of child abuse and intervened or
referred these to the authorities
Rescuing children from a life on the streets
India – 675 children were rescued from living and working on railway platforms and were taken to EveryChild-supported transit shelters to be looked after whilst their families were traced
India – 194 former street children attended nine EveryChild-supported de-addiction/ home orientation camps to be rehabilitated. 165 children have since been provided with skill training, job placements or successfully re-enrolled in school
