How does child sponsorship work?

When you sign up to sponsor a child, you will receive a profile and photo of the child you are sponsoring along with a full description of the project, its goals and main activities.

Seeing the change

One of the great things about being a child sponsor is the regular updates about how your support is helping the child you sponsor, and their family and community.

During the year you will receive regular project updates from the project office, sharing the project's successes and callenges and news about how the community is changing for the better. In addition, our ChildWorld magazine from the London office will give you more information about the exciting work of EveryChild across the world.

Your donations

Your monthly donations mean the child you sponsor, and others like them, can have access to the services, activities and support of the project. These are just some of the things your sponsorship could make possible:

  1. Providing working and street children with flexible, non-formal education to help get them back into school and prevent life-long poverty
  2. Counselling for children affected by abuse or HIV/AIDS
  3. Training social workers who can help families stay together and prevent separation
  4. Giving children safer and happier childhoods by teaching parents and communities about non-violent discipline
  5. Reducing poverty through income generation schemes so children are no longer forced to leave the family unit in search of work

“Had I not been part of the non-formal education scheme, I would have ended up unable to read or write and would have had to remain a house servant forever. Thank you to you all.”

“At every step, EveryChild have involved the local community…the result is the people have taken ownership of all these improvements and thanks to excellent training, they're sustainable."

“Listening to the children talk about their experiences of sexual abuse, being HIV positive, being orphaned and the many other issues they carry on their shoulders in their everyday lives can be challenging. But I am very happy I am able to help them cope with their feelings. I want to thank EveryChild for filling a gap that was most needed for children in our country."
