A host of new foster families have finished training in St Petersburg, Russia, this month and will be ready to open their homes to children in need of short term care this week.
The families have received tutoring from a specialist EveryChild scheme which aims to deliver temporary homes for children with special needs, as part of a programme to professionalise foster care families.
The families have been receiving specialist training since January which has included education on certain special needs conditions.
Foster families make up part of the network of care which EveryChild delivers to vulnerable children and families in Russia as an alternative to large scale institutional care.
