Violence is a huge problem faced by Cambodia’s thousands of street children, and by children in contact with the law.
This project will focus on supporting children in conflict with the law, providing free legal advice and representation and ensuring their rights are protected in line with international standards for juvenile justice.
The project will be implemented in three provinces in Cambodia - Kampong Cham, Svay Rieng and Prey Veng.
A key component of this project will be advocating for a juvenile justice law in Cambodia. This will promote the non-custodial sentencing of minors and ensure children and adults are not held together in prisons.
EveryChild will be working with an organisation of lawyers, to deliver this project. This group bring to the work a specialist expertise in providing free legal aid to children in prison.
This project will work alongside a larger programme addressing violence against street children and those in conflict with the law.
