Coalition holds third meeting in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

24 Apr 2012

The coalition held its third meeting in Rio de Janeiro during March 2012. Outcomes included the development of a fundraising strategy, operating procedures, a conceptual framework and membership criteria for full members. The Vision, Mission, Values and Beliefs were also agreed.

Rio de Janeiro was an ideal place to share experiences of delivering programmes for children without parental care. Members visited a residential centre and a community based care setting and shared the similarities and differences with their own projects. A practice exchange on the subject of children’s participation in decision making ensured members left Brazil with a number of ideas to implement in their own programmes.

Going forward, the coalition will be developing its brand and website, initiating a new monitoring and evaluation system, publishing a number of policy documents and hosting and attending a number of international meetings to advocate for policy change. The fourth coalition meeting will be held in London during September 2012.
