Associação Brasileira Terra dos Homens

Founded in 1996, Associação Brasileira Terra dos Homens built on extensive experience in late and inter-racial adoption programmes and the recognition that approximately 80% of children in institutions in Brazil have some sort of recoverable family bond. Their institutional experience over the last 15 years includes not only reintegration to original families and communities, but also foster care and other alternatives forms of care. Terra dos Homens have defined a three-fold strategy for the transformation of reality of children in jeopardy in Brazil.
In 2002 it developed a capacity building program to empower local social welfare teams, thus allowing for its sound methodology to reach children in jeopardy all over Brazil. Also recognising that it is public policy which makes advancements irreversible, Terra dos Homens have designed and implemented an effective advocacy programme.
